John McCain ruffled America’s already disheveled political feathers today with a Senate floor rant mocking the Tea Party’s position on the debt ceiling debate comparing them to hobbits and disparaging them for turning Sharron Angle and Christine O’Donnell into Republican nominees. Unsurprisingly, Sean Hannity had a bone to pick with the senator tonight on those comments, and on his opinion that the Republicans will get the blame for a debt default if they do not compromise. Mediaite has learned Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity are being dropped from their Philadelphia radio station, WPHT 1210 (The Big Talker), in January. The station is a CBS affiliate, and Philadelphia is the fourth largest radio market.

Debbie Schlussel posted a long piece last evening about a charity that Sean Hannity is affiliated with, accusing them of malfeasance and mismangement. FrumForum has done an exhaustive investigation of the charity in question, Freedom Alliance, and found enough evidence to substantially rebut each of Schlussel’s claims. Tim Mak at FrumForum is debunking each of Debbie Schlussel's allegations against Sean Hannity and Freedom Alliance. Schlussel has been unreliable in the past, and in retrospect I should have approached her report with more skepticism (the lede sentence on my post this morning -- "This is disgusting" -- should have been something more like "If this is true, it's disgusting"). LOS ANGELES (February 19, 2010)—The Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office says actor Sean Penn faces battery and vandalism charges stemming from an altercation with a photographer in Brentwood last fall. Spokesman Frank Mateljan said the two misdemeanor counts would probably be filed later Friday. A phone message left for Penn's attorney, Barry Hirsch, was not immediately returned. Mateljan said Penn kicked a photographer during a dustup in October in which the photographer's camera was damaged. If convicted, Penn could face as much as 18 months in jail.
